Directions to Maruhon
This page is designed to help you if you are making your own way to Maruhon, or if you plan to spend the night in the area. Between the pictures and the maps, you shouldn't get lost! (It is also set up for easy printing, so you can bring a copy with you on your trip.)
The two more convenient hotels are ACT City Okura and the Meitetsu, both located in the station area. We can help with reservations, or you can contact them directly.
To get to Maruhon by local train from the Hamamatsu Shinkansen station:
- 1. Walk down the platform, go down two flights of steps and out the main ticket gates. Turn right immediately outside the gates and walk THROUGH the station to the far doors, turn left (west) towards the Entetsu Department store. Use the map below (follow the little arrows.)
- 2. Walk along the Entetsu Department store on your left. The walk from the ticket gate to the station should take less than 5 minutes.
- 3. Directly in front of you is the Shin-Hamamatsu Station. Walk up the steps and buy a ticket to Kobayashi. (370yen, available from a machine or at the ticket counter.) Give us a call with your train time ( 053-587-0711 ) and we'll meet you at Kobayashi.
- 4. After you buy a ticket, go through the ticket gate and walk up the steps (or use the escalator to your right) to the platform. There is only one platform and the train goes in only one direction, so you can get on the first train you see with confidence.

SPECIAL NOTES:
- There is a McDonalds just on the other side of Shin-Hamamatsu station. If you see the McDonald's, you have just walked under the train tracks. (Turn around, unless you really want french fries before you come to visit.)
- The ride takes about 25 minutes.
- There are trains every 12 minutes during the day, starting on the hour: 7:00, 7:12, 7:24...
- The station names are on signs in the middle of the platform in both Japanese and English. Do not get off at Hamakita station. KOBAYASHI is two stops past Hamakita...
- Coin lockers are available in Hamamatsu station in several locations, including near the door you will exit through.
- Please call us before you leave with the departure time so we can meet you promptly at Kobayashi station. The call is local: 053-587-0711 .
The closest international airport is Nagoya, with Tokyo's Narita and Osaka's Kansai airports located about the same distance from us. From Nagoya to Hamamatsu is about 50 minutes on the shinkansen, and Osaka and Tokyo are 1.5-2 hours depending on if you catch a hikari shinkansen or a kodama shinkansen. (Both types of shinkansen travel at the same speed on the rails, but a hikari shinkansen skips stations while a kodama shinkansen stops at every station.) The Osaka and Narita airports are each about one hour by special airport express trains to the main stations, while Nagoya's airport is about 30 minutes by bus to the main station.
